  • EHLA partners take constructive steps forward.

    11 May 2026.

Last week, we brought the EHLA partners together in Turkey to move from ideas to action. Together, we are building a European approach in which physical activity, health, and well-being become a natural part of the school day. A great example of international collaboration, co-creation, and innovation in education and health.

The EHLA-project, involving partners from Ireland, Italy, Turkey, Belgium, and the Netherlands, primarily focuses on inactive youth, specifically within schools. Each country contributes a best practice example. These successful approaches have been exchanged and connected to one another. Together, this initiative is called the EHLA Active Day, and starting in May, it will be implemented in dozens of schools across the participating countries.

EHLA Active Day consists of three national pilot projects working together towards one shared goal: encouraging children to be more physically active and live healthier lives in and around the school day in a sustainable way.

    Netherlands – Dynamic School Day
The Dutch pilot focuses on integrating physical activity throughout the entire school day. This includes active learning, short movement breaks, outdoor lessons, and creating an active school environment. The goal is to reduce sedentary behavior and make movement a natural part of daily learning.

    Italy – Parchi in Movimento
The Italian pilot uses parks and outdoor spaces as a foundation for physical activity. Children are encouraged to be active within their own living environment through accessible activities that connect schools, neighborhoods, and outdoor play.

Turkey – Community Sports & Child Protection
The Turkish pilot combines sports and physical activity with a strong focus on social safety and child protection. Schools, sports organizations, and local communities work together to provide children with a safe environment in which they can participate in sports and movement activities.

All three projects are supported by the Active for Health app and together contribute to one shared European model for an active and healthy lifestyle among children.
